Food as raw and cooked
In Claude Levi-Strauss’s concept, the word “raw” and “cooked” has been associated with the dichotomy between the natural world and the world of human culture. From raw food to cooked food is not only a transformation between the statues of food but also human; it is a transformation from our ancestor to us. Cooked food is human’s creation. Cooked food is also a media gathers human together (place like dinning table and restaurant). From raw to cooked is a huge improvement of culture.
Claude Levi- Strauss also mentions that in mythological thought, it is a form of meditation between nature and society.
In visual perspective, food from raw to cooked is a magical moment. Food transform it shape and form. Tomato shrink when it is being cooked, flour expand when it is being baked. The transformation is art.
